Glasgow Mac Round-Up: (U10) 12/11

Mark Tenby - Monday 13th 2006f November 2006

Glasgow Maccabi Under 10s continued their improvement this week but still lack consistency.

They started very well against North Kelvin with Matthew Tenby finishing off a great move to open the scoring. Their lead was doubled with a neat goal from Alex Peters, but rather than making the game safe, the boys allowed their opponents back into it and poor defending gave them a goal.

Maccabi’s superior quality told in the end with further goals from Tenby and a cracker from Captain Curtis Bennett making the final score 4-1 to Maccabi.

Next up were a young but determined Vale of Clyde team who were not intimidated by their more experienced opponents. They challenged every ball and completely dominated most of the game with poor defending together with their pace and skill producing three goals. They fully deserved this lead and should have had more but for the crossbar and then a magnificent last-ditch tackle by Bennett.

This seemed to inspire Maccabi and, at last, they started to play football and exert some pressure. It was too little too late however but there was still time for Peters to grab a consolation goal.

If the boys all showed the commitment of the first game and the last 5 minutes of the second then they will have few problems. If not, the inconsistent results will continue.
