London Maccabi trustee David Kyte said: "Over the past decade London Maccabi has developed a sports and social facility that we believe our Community can be proud of in every way. In a relatively short period of time our team has worked tirelessly and we have achieved so much but by welcoming Brady Maccabi to Rowley Lane we hope together we will be even stronger and in a better position to take us to the next stage in our existence to deliver the dream facility that both parties so dearly wish to achieve.

"We would like to thank all our patrons and donors and of course The Maccabi Foundation that has supported both London Maccabi and Brady Maccabi throughout our existence and this continued support has made the alliance possible. Both clubs have an amazing history and there are very few over the past 60 years in our community that have not come in to contact with either Brady Maccabi or that of Maccabi Association London, who were based in Compayne Gardens in West Hampstead until the early nineties. We are the standard bearers for this generation and we see it as our role and duty to invest in our future.

"We want London Maccabi and Brady Maccabi members to embrace this opportunity and we need our community to support the vision of Britain's largest Jewish Community Sports and Social Centre. There is much work to be done and we are under no illusion that this will not be easy and of course significant funding will be required. This can only be achieved by our community working together. Our partnership with Brady Maccabi and the additional investment by the Maccabi Foundation lays a good foundation and is a significant step in the right direction."

Joel Nathan of the Brady Maccabi Club explained: "For the Brady Trustees there is only one place to be right now in terms of the Jewish Communities Sports facilities and that is at London Maccabi. We share the vision of the London Maccabi Trustees to further develop the site and to incorporate a multifaceted indoor sports Hall.

"The Brady Maccabi name is meaningful to at least three generations of Jews from our days in Hanbury Street in the East End to Manor Park Crescent in Edgware. Our partnership here with London Maccabi will ensure the Brady name perpetuated and ensure that we deliver with a broad range of Sport and Youth based activities for another generation."

Maccabi GB Honorary Life President Bob Glatter said: "I am the last remaining Maccabi member of the group who agreed the merger between Edgware Maccabi and Brady in 1978. It was always our vision to consolidate and progress our community forward by investing in the best recreational facilities for our Youth to enjoy. I am delighted to see all the wonderful progress and achievements since that historic day and pleased that this work will now continue for many years to come in this wonderful new environment".

Michael Ziff, chairman of the Maccabi Foundation and Maccabi GB summed up: "We only want to see Maccabi go from strength to strength and the merger of London Maccabi and Brady Maccabi will ensure this will be the case and we are totally supportive." Bookmark and Share
